Although YOLKE has made its name in luxurious silk, last season we introduced linen to our range of fabrics. Linen is one of the most sustainable fabrics available in the fashion world, and as the brand moves into daywear and homeware, it seemed like the most natural addition to make.
Sustainable linen
Linen is one of the world’s oldest fabrics and is made from flax plant fibres. Flax can be grown on arid terrain where food crops cannot grow and uses considerably less water consumption then cotton. Every part of the flax plant can be used to create a product with zero wastage. YOLKE’s linen is sourced and produced in Europe, cutting down the carbon footprint and making it YOLKE’s most sustainable fabric.
Biodegradable
Lined is kinder to the environment, and when untreated is 100% biodegradable. Linens natural colours are available in ecru, off-white, grey and tan.
Breathable
Linen is incredibly light on your skin. When you put on a linen shirt or outfit, the feel of the fabric automatically transports you to sailing in the cool breeze around the Mediterranean.
Linen is naturally one of the most breathable fabrics in the world and absorbs moisture without holding bacteria. YOLKE’s linen is machine washable to ensure the easiest upkeep and is and naturally moth resistant!
